Five radio stations in Juba, South Sudan (Bakhita, Eye Radio, City FM, Dram FM and SSR) celebrated World Radio Day with an Outside Broadcasting event along with other programmes broadcast on the theme throughout the day.

Despite the difficult security situation present, the broadcasters went around Juba town and market, with loud speakers and a generator loaded onto an old pick-up, announcing that it was World Radio Day and telling onlookers to celebrate radio. They then went back to their radio stations to play the recorded voices from the streets and had great shows. Looking all happy having achieved the objective of the day, they joined UNESCO staff for a two hour panel discussion on the theme of the day, Radio and Youth, at Radio Bakhita with 20 young people.
